Golden Bell Frog (Litoria aurea)
Growling Grass Frog
These frogs vary in coloration from splendid to boring. They seem to adapt to their surroundings. The particular "Golden" color comes from yellowish accents along the sides of their bodies...surprisingly, the "golden" color really looks like 14k Gold!! Yet, this color fades and shines depending upon tank temp and mood. If they are agitated, the color is washed out. If the tank is too cold, they turn very dark. These frogs can grow quickly! In the first month, the Bell Frog can double in size.

Turtles as Pets: Important Issues
Veterinary & Aquatic Services Department, Drs. Foster & Smith, Inc.
Getting a pet is always a very important decision and one that should be made only when you are aware of what having this pet will entail. What type of turtle, sources of turtles, and estimates of the time and money it will take to properly care for the turtle are all important considerations. But before you go out and buy a turtle, you need to ask yourself some very important questions.

Berkshire Pigs
A Rare Breed of British Origin
The modern Berkshire breed was developed in Britain as a specialist pork pig in the middle of the nineteenth century. The basic unimproved animals from which it derived were short-legged and rather fat pigs (also known as Berkshires) which had evolved by crossing British pigs with Chinese stock introduced into Britain in the 1700s. During the nineteenth century the breed was refined to an early-maturing black pig – often with white on its short legs and dished face. It was extremely popular, and a Breed Society was formed in 1885.

Golden snub-nosed Monkey (Pygathrix roxellana)
By Peter Munoz

Habitat Pygathrix roxellana is found in temperate broad leaf and conifer forests at elevations ranging from 1,600 to 4,000 m above sea level. These monkeys live in mountain forests all year long, but they may migrate to slightly lower elevations during the winter. Golden monkeys and other species ...

Tiffany / Chantilly
The Chantilly’s long road to acceptance started in 1967. The breed’s originator, Jennie Robinson, bought two cats, an 18-month-old male and a 6-month-old female, from a pet shop in White Plains, New York. She was told the cats had belonged to someone who had recently died. Several years later, ACA registered the cats, Thomas and Shirley of Neotype, as “Sable Foreign Longhairs.”

American Eskimo (Standard)
As the prototypical spitz, the Eskie (as it is often called) is just as often simply called spitz by pet owners. In fact, the American Eskimo dog descended from one of the varieties of spitz developed in Germany, with influences from other spitz breeds such as the keeshond, Pomeranian, and Volpino Italiano. Ironically, it was the success of these other breeds that held the Eskie back. Although the keeshond originally came in several colors, when it was decided to accept only gray specimens, the white keeshonden were suddenly excluded.

Carpet Beetles and Moths
Carpet beetles and clothes moths aim for our woollen fabrics and furnishings. They're just doing what comes naturally. They were born to recycle the fur, feathers and even skins of dead animals. Have you ever tried to eat wool? The reality is you can't, simply because wool is made of keratin, a large and long molecule that is hard to break down. There are very few animals that can actually digest and break down keratin, and carpet beetles and clothes moth caterpillars are some of those specialists.
